Bilateral simultaneous thalamic infarctions

Abstract

Bilateral simultaneous thalamic infarction (BPTI) is a rare syndrome. Patients attend to the hospital with acute unconsciousness, gaze palsies and cognitive deficits. Here we presented clinical and radiological features and prognosis of 6 cases. They were admitted to the hospital with sudden onset of unconsciousness. Diffusion weighted MRI showed hyperintensity on bilateral paramedian thalamic region and hypointensity on ADC mapping consistent with acute infarction.
