This manuscript (3331 works, 7 diagrams) reports on the antimicrobial properties of the microwave-assisted pyroligneous acid (MWPA) from oil palm fiber that could be projected as altemative natural source of antimicrobial agent for therapeutic potential. Amongst notable highlights include; 1) Phenolic compounds was the major fractions in the concentrated MWPA extracted with ethyl acetate (CPAEA MWPA), 2) Grart negative bacteria showed higher sensitivity towards CPAEA MWPA compared to Gram positive bacteria 3) low range
of MIC and MBC has been demonstrated by CPAEA MWPA. This work is part of a continuing research to address the potential of microwave-assisted pyroligneous acid as antioxidant application.
Key words: Pyroligneous acid, microwave, pyrolysis, antimicrobial, phenolic, OPF
