A biodegradation potential of a known oil biodegrader Pseudomonas putida was assessed in an aqueous medium of a batch reactor. Effect of the microaerobic condition, temperature and agitation rate was linked to the efficiency of the reactor and removal rate. The result indicated a high removal rate of 500 ppm sulfide concentration over the other ranges of 100 and 300 ppm, respectively. In addition, it was also observed that the presumed inhibitory effect of sulfide was tolerated by this isolate indicated by an effective growth measured in OD 600 nm. Overall, the finding affirmed that the isolate could successfully be applied to biodegrade sulfide from recalcitrant wastewater.
