Supraventricular Tachycardia in Pregnancy

Abstract

Treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia during pregnancyis necessary to protect both mother and the fetus. In caseof hemodynamic deterioration, pharmacological treatment is thetreatment of choice. There are limited reports for the safety and efficacy ofverapamil use in pregnancy for treatment of paroxysmal supraventriculartachycardia. Numerous case reports and a retrospective study suggest thatadenosine is safe and effective for these kinds of arrhythmias.
