Evaluation of incidental renal artery stenosis in patients of Peripheral arterial disease in a rural Indian setting.

Abstract

The co-existence of atherosclerotic changes in renal vasculature in patients of peripheral arterial disease in well-known. We aimed at finding out the prevalence of incidental atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis and other co-morbid risk factors in patients of Peripheral arterial disease in a rural Indian setting.We found that mild to severe renal artery stenosis found as an incidental finding is commonly seen in patients of peripheral arterial disease. Hypertension and increasing age were closely associated with renal artery narrowing.
