HUMAN MILK BANKING

Kantha Katari.

Abstract

Human milk is specifically designed for human babies and provides unique benefits that cannot be duplicated by formula. Babies who are born
prematurely are at a higher risk of gastrointestinal diseases and infections. Often, moms are not able to supply their babies with the milk they need because they are under great stress or are ill themselves. Human milk provides babies with antibodies to fight disease and infection and also protects against allergies.Providing these fragile infants with pasteurized human donor milk provides them with passive immunity and gives them a stronger hold on life.

Key words: Human milk, Breast feeding, Formula feeding.
