Prevalence of selected health problems among old age people at Rangampeta, Tirupati

Abstract

Aging is a universal and inevitable change, which takes place even that best of nutrition and health care. It is a normal process of time related change that occurs throughout life.ICMR (2000) report that 38% of the change observed with advancing age is due to the common problems that affect the old age people mainly the
hearing loss, vision problems & arthritis.
This study aims to assess the prevalence of selected health problems among old age people.
Quantitative approach with a descriptive design was selected for this study.The sample of 50 old age people of 60 years and above at Rangampeta were selected by purposive sampling technique.Data was collected using structured questionnaire.
The study showed that out of 50 samples, 7(14%) were having hearing problems, 11(22%) were having viral problems, 6(12%) were having digestion problems, 34(68%) were having fatigue, 28(56%) were having edema, 15(30%) were having incontinence, 34(63%) were having joint pains.
