VIVEKANANDA'S RAJA YOGA AND MODERN SCIENCE

T. N. SRINIV ASAN.

Abstract

Swami Vivekananda's Raja Yoga is famous for its commentaries on the Yoga Sutras. However, what is not realized is the fact that it is a scientific treatise on natural phenomena. The emergence of the physical world, the condensation and manifestations of energy. the continuity of the energy field, the control of energy through Pranayama are all pro¬pounded with great clarity by the Swami. Beyond the pale of instinct and reason is the supra¬conscious awareness wherein the nature of Reality is experienced. The Swami was a living example of attaining this state wherein be had not only not contradicted the so-called modern scientific knowledge, he had even predicted the nature of Reality.
