Conservation and Preservation of Manuscripts a way forward - A Changing scenario of Ayurveda

Abstract

The hand written document existing since from seventy five years are manuscripts. The acquisition, processing repairing of the same is the science Manuscriptology. Conservation and preservation of Manuscripts are important as many Ayurveda manuscripts are still found in an unedited condition in India. The available information preserved in Manuscript is essential for upgrading the science Ayurveda. Many unedited Ayurveda manuscripts available at repositories are not readily accessible. Sometimes, the content available in many Manuscripts is also unexplored till date. Many Manuscripts of Ayurveda are at the verge of deterioration. Hence awareness and education to the Ayurveda Scholars and common public is essential regarding the method of Conservation, preservation and edition. This article shows the importance of conservation of Manuscripts and explains the steps for its practical execution.
