Systematic review on safety and efficacy of Manahshila (Realgar) and its formulations.

Abstract

Background: In Ayurvedic therapeutics, Manahshila (Realgar, As2S3) is widely utilized drug since the Samhita period. Only few researches however have been carried out on its safety and efficacy. Present work aims to review published case studies and clinical trials on formulations containing Manahshila and to see its safety and efficacy. Materials & Method: Published Case studies and Clinical trials on Manahshila (Realgar) and compound formulations containing it were reviewed through various search engines and database like Google, Google scholar, Yahoo, PubMed etc. Results: Total 15 published research articles were reviewed including four case studies, ten clinical trials on formulations containing Manahshila and one clinical trial on Ardraka shodhita Mananhshila.
Conclusion: reviewed researches on formulations containing Manahshila suggest that Manahshila and its containing formulations are safe and effective in different dosage form in treating different diseases conditions.
