The article presents in detail that the activities of the student scientific circle orient the studentís potential towards professional, intellectual and social creativity, providing conditions for self-education. Indeed, the institutions of higher technical education have the task of training highly qualified graduates who are thoughtful, competent, independent. To form the required competencies of a modern engineer, the integration of science and education is necessary. The main vector of development of modern pedagogy is aimed at the development and implementation of new, more effective teaching methods. The basis for the development of new techniques and teaching methods is the development of the studentís mental abilities, allowing him, with a certain amount of knowledge, to navigate independently in the world of science and technology, to master new knowledge. The paper gives examples of research directions of students in a scientific circle on the example of the Surgut branch of the Tyumen Industrial University.
