Medico legal characteristics of fire arm injuries: a prospective study of medico legal autopsies

Abstract

Objective: To assess the gross morphological characteristics of firearm bullet wounds of entrance and exit on different anatomic locations at autopsy.
Methodology: This descriptive study was undertaken at the Department of Forensic Medicine, PMC hospital, Nawabshah and Pir Abdul Qadir Shah Jeelani Institute of Medical Sciences, Gambat from January 2021 to August 2021. All adult subjects with firearm deaths were selected irrespective of age and gender. All wounds were observed with naked eye and magnifying hand lens and a distinction of entry and exit was made for each wound. The measurements on wounds were made by a flexible measuring rule.
