The topography of a mandibular residual ridge is not suited to wearing of complete denture prosthesis. The surrounding oral musculature further complicates the wearing. To promote oral musculature adaptation, the polished surface of the denture must be contoured according to the concavities and convexities of each functional muscle or group of muscle. New dental materials with better properties are continually evolving. We present a clinical technique of recording the functional impression of surrounding oral musculature using a heat cure soft liner, the properties of which are ideal for the purpose. A modified trial denture base with a wire retentive framework allows the material to be retained while performing the movements clinically.
