Causes of chest pain in primary care: a review

Abstract

Chest pain can be caused by both non-life-threatening and life-threatening causes. The first step that should be performed on admission is to prevent the presence of life-threatening conditions. This study aimed to overview chest pain prevalence, causes, and diagnosis. In this review, an online searching process was involved to obtain articles related to our subject to write the current review. The searching process was through scientific websites using several keywords. Articles were selected according to inclusion criteria that we selected, and then the discussion of the subject was performed under main titles. This review concludes that chest pain can be caused by life-threatening causes that require immediate management, so correct diagnosis is essential for proper management and saving the life of patients.
