Revisiting and Reinterpreting Sita‟s character: A Comparative Study

Abstract

The present study adopts reconstructive methodology to engage in subversion of various hierarchical patterns of power and patriarchy and to expose gender injustice in the traditional story of the Ramayana. This paper attempts to understand Sita as she lived and conducted herself in the Ramayana‟s remote past- on her own terms, by her own rules.
