Assessment of booster vaccination with hepatitis B vaccine using predominant usage of TCR Vβ genes

Jianwei Zhou,Yizhao Li,Yu Li.

Abstract

Background: Seroconcentraion of Hepatitis B surface antibody titers (anti-HBs) is always used to assess the protectvie effets of HBV vaccination. In this study, the usage of variable region of beta chain genes of T cell receptor (TCR Vβ) is taken as an index to estimate the function of booster vaccnation of HBV vaccine.
Subjects and Methods: 11 students whose seroconcentration of anti-HBs was less than 10 mIU/ml were recruited. 3 month later after one dose of booster vaccination with HBV vaccine, the level of anti-HBs and predominant usage of TCR Vβ was detected with chemiluminescence method and agarose gel electrophoresis technique, respectively.
Results: After booster vaccination, the average concentration of anti-HBs of ten vaccinees was 143.7±28.5 mIU/ml, which was significantly higher than that before vaccination (P
