Mehmet Gunes, Ezgi Cankaya Inan.

Abstract

Vortioxetine is a new generation antidepressant that was licensed for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Vortioxetine is an antidepressant with multimodal activity that has effects such as 5-HT transporter inhibitor, 5-HT3, 5-HT7 and 5-HT1-D receptor antagonist, 5-HT1-B partial agonist and 5HT1-A agonist. At the same time, it is shown that vortioxetine increases the levels of neuradrenaline, dopamine, acetylcholine and histamine in certain areas of the brain. We aim to report three separate cases in which dermatological side effects developed after vortioxetine treatment. In our first case, we will discuss ichthyosis after vortioxetine use, acneiform rash due to vortioxetine use in our second case, and urticaria after vortioxetine use in our last case, respectively.
In this study, we aim to draw attention to such negative effects of vortioxetin treatment and to provide valuable data for phase IV period.
