A study to assess the prevalence of pica among under five children in Sarawathi Nagar , Nellore.

Abstract

To assess the prevalence of pica among under five children. To find association between pica in under five children with selected socio demographic variables. METODOLOGY: A quantitative research approach and descriptive research design was used to assess the prevalence of pica among 100 under five children in Saraswathi Nagar by simple random sampling using lottery method. Data was collected by using observational check list. The data was analyzed and tabulated by using descriptive and inferential statistics based on objective of the study. RESULTS: The results showed that regarding pica behaviour 12(12%) were having occasionally taking pica behaviour, 3(3%) of them had frequent and 85(85%) were not having pica behaviour. CONCLUSION : The findings of the study reveals that majority of children did not have pica behaviour.
