A study to assess the knowledge on cervical cancer among the women at kakatur, Nellore

Cancer is a Taboo and the term cancer itself cause on easiness to people who believe it is untreatable. Cervical cancer occurs when cells in the cervix grow erratically and multiple out of control.The aim of the study was to assess the knowledge on cervical cancer among the women at kakatur,Nellore. Objectives: 1) To assess the level of knowledge regarding cervical cancer among women.2) To find out the association between the level of knowledge among women with their selected sociodemographic variables. Methods: A quantitative research approach and quasi experimental design was used for this study. A total of 60 women were selected by using non-probability convenience sampling technique. The
data collection was done by using structured questionnaire. Results: The results showed that, by assessing the level of knowledge regarding cervical cancer among 60 women,7(11.6%) obtained poor knowledge, 52(86.7%) obtained average knowledge and 1(1.7%) obtained good knowledge. The results also showed that there was significant association between the level of knowledge regarding cervical cancer with occupation and family income Conclusion: The study findings concluded that majority of 52(86.7%) had average knowledge on cervical cancer among the women .The investigator felt that health care professionals can also create better awareness to improve knowledge among women at kakatur, Nellore.
