Prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in a physical therapist clinic in Islamabad, Pakistan

Abstract

Objective: To find the prevalence of musculo-skeletal disorders in physical therapy clinics of Islamabad, Pakistan.
Methodology: In this retrospective cross sectional survey, patients data were recorded on the basis of registry summaries of the clinical department of physical therapy. Through descriptive analysis on SPSS 21, frequencies and percentages of all musculoskeletal disorders were calculated for the year 2015 to 2016.
Results: Most prevalent disorder in two years was backache with a frequency of 30.68% and second most frequent disorder was adhesive capsulitis with a frequency of 5.71%. In 2015, females have musculoskeletal disorders frequency of 53.47% while 46.53% were in males. In 2016, the femalesÂ’ participants had 50.13% frequency and males were 49.87%.
Conclusion: Females were more effected than males because of the poor posture and diet as stated by patients. People with low socio-economic status are susceptible to musculoskeletal problems.
