ANAESTHETIC MANAGEMENT OF PATIENT POSTED FOR SUB-TROCHANTRIC FRACTURE FEMUR REQUIRING UNANTICIPATED MASSIVE BLOOD TRANSFUSION INTRA-OPERATIVELY

Abstract

Hemorrhage remains one of the significant causes of morbidity and mortality in the operation theater. Rapid transfusion of large volumes of blood products is required in patients with hemorrhagic shock followed by long bone fractures, leading to a unique set of complications. We recently managed massive blood transfusion intra-operatively for a patient undergoing closed reduction with the right sub-trochanteric fractured femur's internal fixation
