Comparison of mobilization with movement and dorsiflexion night splint with and without routine exercises in patients with plantar fasciitis

Abstract

Objective: To compare effects of mobilization with movement and dorsiflexion night splint in addition to routine physical therapy on pain intensity and physical function in patients with plantar fasciitis.
Methodology: The study included 56 patients of plantar fasciitis which were equally and randomly divided into two groups via purposive sampling. Eligible participants were treated over a 3 weeks period with three sessions each week, each session lasting for 30-40 minutes. Group A received mobilization with movement at subtalar joint, dorsiflexion night splint and routine physical therapy and group B received only routine physical therapy that consisted of ultrasound therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises.
Results: In-group A, mean age was 45.39+4.23 while in-group B mean age was 46.11+5.28. Pretreatment values of FFI scale varied insignificantly across the two groups with p>0.05 but after interventions were given, there was significant difference between two groups with p
