An Assesment of Emergency Contraception Knowledge of Women Attending the Primary Health Care Center in Umraniye

Abstract

BACKGROUND: The aim of the study was to determined the knowledge of women who were in reproductive age that were attending to a primary health care center which was having family planning service in Umraniye.
METHODS: This descriptive research has been performed at a primary health care center in Umraniye, between 18-20 December 2006. In our study study sample isn’t selected and we include women of reproductive age who are attending to the primary health care with any cause in the study dates. Study has been performed at 241 women (89.9%) that has been interwieved of 268. Study data has been collected by a three part questionnaire which has 33 question. The data has been evaluated by chi square and Fisher exact tests.
RESULTS: The median age of the participants was 28 (25p-75p). Small part of participants have heard emergency contraception (13.7%). There was a significant relationship between hearing the method, being nullipar and high education level (p
