Aims and objectives: To compare the lipid abnormalities in HIV patients on antiretroviral drug to
those HIV patients who are not on antiretroviral drug.
Method: This prospective randomized controlled trail study was conducted over a period of one and
half year in The Department of Medicine, Pradesh University of Medical Science, Saifai, Etawah,
India on 140 patients living HIV and AIDS (HIV) attending ART clinical of the hospital after
clearance from institutional Ethical committee.
Result: Of 140 patients, the mean age of the patients of Group A, and Group B was 37.64±8.56 years,
and 36.05±8.06 years respectively. There was insignificant or no significant (p>0.05) difference in
gender among the groups. 31.4% and 30.0% of patients were smokers found in group A and group B
respectively whereas 44.3% and 30.0% patients were alcoholic from group A and group B
respectively. The comparison of hemodynamic parameters among the groups showed no significant
(p>0.05) difference in among the groups. The lipid profile findings noted and there was significant
