Creating Opportunities and Easing Transitions: Best Practices for the Communication Capstone Course

Abstract

As a common graduation requirement, capstone courses present a variety of opportunities and challenges for communication students and faculty members. This best practices article provides a framework for creating a successful and meaningful capstone experience for communication students. They allow students to reflect on their college experience, examine the importance and impact of their communication degree, and boost their confidence and preparedness for their post-graduation endeavors. Implementing these best practices and the accompanying suggestions can enhance program assessment, determine learning outcome effectiveness, and establish a meaningful, concluding student experience.
