Abstract
Dear Editor, We read the article of Kucur, et al named ‘Bell Paralizisi: Tanı, Tedavi ve Klinik Takibi’ with great interest,as the article included pediatric age group and there is limited data reported about this subject from our country. Bell‘s palsy in pediatric age group is a rare entity, although etiology is unclear infectious agents should be kept in mind with priority. As discussed in the article Herpes virus reactivation has an important place among the viral etiologic agents. With the help of the diagnostic studies in children and adults it is proven that Varicella zoster virus reactivation might also cause Bell‘s palsy. As also discussed in the article, in the treatment of Bell‘s palsy, it is important to diagnose the causative disease if possible, and to evaluate the need of corticosteroid as soon as the symptoms start with or without accompanying antiviral therapy (1-8).
