Background: Brucellosis alone could rarely be an etiology of acute hepatitis, in which a slight increase of hepatic transaminase in the laboratory and hepatic abscess could clinically develop.
Case Presentation: A 17-year-old Saudi male patient was presented with acute hepatitis, and Brucella turned out to be the causative agent. Under laboratory investigations, liver transaminase was increased. The viral serology profile was also adverse. Histopathology for liver biopsy revealed a picture of hepatitis with a small granuloma.
Conclusion: Brucellosis could be presented in an atypical pattern and should be considered in addition to viral/autoimmune causes, in-patient with acute hepatitis, especially in endemic regions.
