Isolation and Identification of the Scent Volatiles of the Male Kraussaria angulifera

Martins Iji, Istifanus Yarkasuwa Chindo, Clifford Baba Okpanachi.

Abstract

This study presents results on the analysis of the volatile and non-volatile compounds present in the male Kraussaria angulifera. The determination of these chemicals followed a series of operations: Isolation (extraction and separation) of the target chemicals from the samples; Separation and purification of the target chemicals from co-extracted and non-target chemicals (sample clean-up); Sample concentration; Determination of target chemicals by Infra-red spectroscopic analysis and highly selective and sensitive Gas chromatography-Mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

Key words: Semiochemicals, Chromatography, Infra-red, GC-MS
