Labbo. Abstract | Download PDF | | Post | The greater global challenges was posed by the current energy demands and irrational utilization of the
world energy resources. Fossil fuels are finite and pose significant risks to the planet’s fragile ecosystems,
making them unsustainable for long-term economic development. Renewable energy sources are
sustainable, alternative to exhaustible fossil fuel reserves, and could be used to eliminate the harm caused
by fossil fuel utilization and satisfy the increasing energy demand globally. This research involved the
application of Thermoelectric Generators (TEG) for cooling systems. The Peltier module (TEG) was
experimentally tested for its capability to produce temperature at cool junction lower than that at hot
junction when electrical power is applied. The results highlighted that the supplied power and the cooling
capacity of the TEG, duly depends on applied current, voltage and temperature difference. Moreover, the
performance coefficient of the module responds to input power and cooling capacity but was directly
proportional to the supplied current and voltage respectively. This confirmed that the use of solar panel
as a source of power supply to the TEG module can be feasible and can produce a better coefficient of
performance of the TEG towards enhancing efficient cooling temperature suitable for fabricating solar
powered thermoelectric cooling system for sustainable domestic applications.
