This study delves into the ramifications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Project Management (PM) from two distinct angles. Firstly, it examines how literature conceptualizes AI’s implications for the PM profession through a bibliometric analysis, offering a comprehensive overview of its evolution. Secondly, it charts the potential progression of the PM domain, providing a crucial roadmap for decision-makers seeking to enhance efficiency and organizational effectiveness. This research also contemplates the policy consequences of integrating AI into PM at various levels, including the impact on businesses and their managers. The conclusions highlight that AI is poised to become a fundamental component of PM, significantly affecting aspects such as cost, scheduling, and risk management. Although AI is not expected to supplant the human element in project management, its influence on the profession will be profound.
