Incidence of pain in single visit endodontic treatment in prescription Vs on demand acetaminophen

Abstract

Objective: To assess the outcome of over the counter acetaminophen with regular prescription or on demand acetaminophen on post-endodontic pain following treatment.
Methodology: A total of 60 patients were selected, 30 in each group were given prescription SOS or BD. Pain was analyzed on visual analogue scale. Chi square test was run in order to evaluate if there is a statistically significant difference among the two groups.
Results: No statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups. Conclusion: The difference between the on demand and as per prescription management by acetaminophen for pain following single visit endodontic treatment was statistically insignificant.
