ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE REGARDING CARE OF PATIENTS WITH CENTRAL LINE AMONG THE STAFF NURSES IN NARAYANA MEDICAL COLLEGE HOSPITAL NELLORE

Abstract

Central venous access devices are small, flexible tubes placed in large veins for people who
require frequent access to the blood stream. Different types of venous access devices are available. They
are essentially used to give intra venous medications, obtain venous samples and measurements of central
venous pressure. Objectives: To assess the level of knowledge regarding care of patients with central
venous line among the staff nurses. To associate the level of knowledge regarding care of patients with
central venous line among staff nurses with their socio demographic variables. Material and methods: the
researcher was used quantitative research approach with descriptive research design. The 100 samples
were selected by using non probability convenient sampling technique to assess the knowledge regarding
care of patient with central line among staff nurse. Result : the result revealed that 18(18%) obtained A+,
24(24%) got A, 25(25%) secured B+, 16(16%) had B, , 10(10%) obtained C and 7(7%) staff nurse got D
grade knowlegde. CONCLUSION: The study concluded that staff nurses had adequate knowledge regarding
care of patients with central line. Key words: Central line, Nursing Staff.
