Abstract

Regulation of dietary patterns in life style practices is also important aspects in case of patients
undergoing dialysis. People on dialysis need to eat high protein foods such as meat, fish, paultry and cereals
and have control of salt, potassium and phosphorus, more fruits and vegetables, salt diet may cause elevated
blood pressure and weight gain. Patient should restrict the intake of water as much as possible. Aim: The
aim of the study was to assess the level of knowledge regarding life style practices among dialysis patients.
Objectives: 1. To assess the knowledge regarding life style practices among dialysis patients. 2. To find the
association between the level of knowledge regarding life style practices among dialysis patient with their
selected sociodemographic variables. Methodology: 30 dialysis patients from dialysis ward at NMCH,
Nellore were selected by using purposive sampling method. Results: Regarding the knowledge level of
dialysis patients, 1(3.3%) had A+ grade, 2(6.7%) had A grade, 9(30%) had B+ grade and B grade, 4(13.3)
had C grade and 5(16.7%) had D grade knowledge. Keywords: Knowledge, Life style practices, Dialysis
