Abstract | Download PDF | | Post | Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the awareness and understanding of testicular torsion among the general population in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A cross-sectional community survey was conducted in September 2025 among 413 adults in Al-Ahsa using a validated bilingual questionnaire to assess demographics, knowledge, attitudes, and health history, including sickle cell disease (SCD).
Results: Participants were nearly evenly split by gender (51.8% male) and mostly aged 20–30 years (61.7%). Mean knowledge score was 6.33 ± 2.1 (48.7%). While 84.7% recognized torsion as a medical emergency and 79.7% would seek immediate care, only 35.1% correctly defined it, 45.5% knew conservative management is insufficient, and 38.7% identified orchiectomy as necessary for prolonged ischemia.
