Approach to a Conversion Disorder with Comorbid Major Depression with Pharmacotherapy and Psychodrama Techniques: A Case Report

Abstract

Conversion disorder (CD) is a common psychiatric disorder in psychiatry clinical and emergency departments, which can occur with psychological factors and may lead to changes in motor and sensory functioning in a way that suggests a physical disorder. Multiple mental illnesses such as depressive disorder can accompany CD. Psychotherapy techniques can be applied besides antidepressant, antipsychotic drug treatments in the treatment of CD. In this article, we aimed to present a case major depressive disorder with accompanying CD in which we responded by applying drug therapy together with psychodrama techniques which are a type of psychotherapy which is not frequently used in CD.
