Abstract

Objective: To check the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders of lower quadrant among teachers.
Methodology: In this cross sectional study, a questionnaire was used to collect data on 184 teachers. Numeric Pain Rating Scale was used to evaluate the intensity of pain. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16.0.
Results: A total of 184 teachers from schools, colleges and universities of Lahore and Okara, Pakistan were included in the study. Out of 184, 60 (32.6%) had low back pain, 15 (8.2%) pelvic pain, 26 (14.1%) knee pain and 22 (12.0%) ankle/foot pain. 63 (34.2%) teachers had no pain, 49 (26.6%) mild pain, 65 (35.3%) moderate pain and 7 (3.8%) severe pain.
Conclusion: Teachers experience musculoskeletal disorders due to their work routine. Long job duration, standing for prolong period and work in an uncomfortable position can result in musculoskeletal disorders.
