Quality Assurance

Abstract

The field of Quality Assurance is as old as modern nursing. Florence Nightingale introduced the concept of quality in nursing care
in 1855. Notes on Nursing have standards regarding, noise and its control, food, type of bed, position of bed in relation to windows,
cleanliness of the room and personal cleanliness. She reduced the mortality to 2% with in 6 months Quality assurance programs were designed to set standard for nursing care delivery and establish criteria by which to evaluate these standards. Quality improvement is concerned with performance development and is ongoing, involved with fixing problem now, costly mistakes in the future, and fostering break through.
