Background:
Myxomatous mitral valve degeneration (MMVD) is the cardiac condition with the highest incidence in small-breed dogs. The main complication of this disease is congestive heart failure (CHF). However, arrhythmias may be observed associated with the progression of this condition. Third-degree atrioventricular block (AV block) is a type of conduction disturbance that can be detected in patients with MMVD. In severe cases of third-degree AV block, animals presenting with an idioventricular heart rate (HR)
