Content analysis of YouTube videos regarding splint therapy for temporomandibular joint disorders

YouTube, like many other healthcare settings, is a widely used platform by patients. However, despite this popularity, variability in content quality and low reliability are significant challenges. This study aims to analyze the content quality and reliability of videos on YouTube™ regarding splints used in the treatment of temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). The YouTube™ database was searched using the keywords "TMJ splint treatment" and "TMJ and splint." After applying the exclusion criteria, 100 videos were categorized based on the uploader's profile (healthcare professional/individual user). Video content was analyzed by two independent orthodontists using quantitative quality scales and standardized DISCERN and VIQI indices.
