Abstract

The history of medicine is like a patchwork quilt, stitched together from the fabric of breakthroughs, desperate measures, and-often enough-utterly misguided beliefs. Modern medicine, with its emphasis on rigorous evidence and ethical standards, rests on the shoulders of pioneers who were navigating, often blindly, through an uncharted landscape of trial and error. Looking back at these practices offers us more than just amusement or bewilderment; it’s a lesson in progress and a reminder of how critical it is to constantly question our methods.
