PERCEPTION OF NURSING STUDENTS ABOUT THEIR EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT IN A COLLEGE OF NURSING PAKISTAN: A CROSS SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract
ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: To determine the viewpoints of nursing students and consequently adopt strategies to further improvement in educational environment for better students learning outcomes.
STUDY DESIGN: A cross- sectional study
PLACE & DURATION: Isra College of Nursing Islamabad from November 2014 to January 2015
METHODOLOGY: A cross sectional research was conducted involving 50 students of Post Registration (Post RN). Structured questionnaire including demographic information and Dundy Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) Inventory was distributed to all students rated on 50 items concerning educational environment. Data was analyzed using statistical package of social sciences SPSS version (20).
RESULTS: The mean scores on this inventory were 135.9 18.5 (out of 200) which indicates more positive environment than negative. There were no statistical significant different found in scores of any of the sub domain of DREEM inventory between male and female students. Senior nursing students scored higher on inventory in comparison of junior students.
CONCLUSION: The faculties and management staff need to be persistent enforcing strategies to maintain high quality educational environment.
