Meteorological parameters namely; relative sunshine duration, maximum ambient temperature and relative humidity were used to develop an empirical model for the analysis of global solar radiation in Maiduguri. Response surface methodology was used for the analysis. The predicted and measured values of the global solar radiation have shown good agreement. A coefficient of determination of 99.8% was recorded with maximum percentage error of 0.0558 and root mean square error of0.2396. The model has appreciable advantage in comparison with existing models.
Key words: H/H0=ratio of solar radiation , S/S0=ratio of sunshine duration , Tmax= maximum air temperature and R=relative humidity
