Background-Respiratory allergies disorder is are very common and have a significant impact upon individuals, their families, and society. Patients with respiratory allergies often opt to use herbal/Ayurveda therapy for a wide range of reasons, including a preference like preference for natural remedies over synthetic drugs. Many times, quacks, traditional healers, and self-proclaimed God man claimed an herbal cure for respiratory allergies. One of such treatment claims of a traditional healer was verified through a preliminary case series study .
Aim and Objective – The assessment of treatment benefit claims of i.e Tuber flour of Devakanda(Tacca leontopetaloides) in a respiratory allergy case series for its safety and efficacy.
Materials and Methods -Tuber flour of Devakanda(Tacca leontopetaloides) was adjusted according to the patient’s needs, condition, or response to treatment (flexi dose) and it was (80-100mg/kg) which was administrated upon six patients with allergic respiratory allergies. Patients were selected through a pre-set exclusion and inclusion criteria.
Result- There is a significant improvement in Absolute eosinophil count (AEC), serum-specific IgE status, and asthma control test(ACT) was observed using a questionnaire after the completion of one month of therapy compared with a baseline.
Conclusion- This preliminary study of Tuber flour of Devakanda (Tacca leontopetaloides) suggests it to be is safe and long term effective in respiratory allergies in short term use (1 month).
