Effect of sodium valproate and levetiracetam monotherapy on vitamin D levels among young epileptic Pakistani adults

Objective: To determine the effect of Sodium Valproate (VPA) and Levetiracetam (LEV) monotherapy on levels of 25-OH Cholecalciferol in young epileptic Pakistani adult patients.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study included 100 healthy and epileptic individuals aged between 15-24 years, with no sex predilection. All participants were divided into four groups I-IV (n=25 each); healthy control, diseased control, epileptic patients on VPA and LEV monotherapies, respectively. Serum 25-OH Cholecalciferol was measured. Data were analyzed at SPSS version 23.0. One-way ANOVA test was used to compare all groups.
