Abstract

Objective: To compare anterio-inferior and anterior-superior plating of mid-shaft displaced clavicle fracture with regard to complications, plate prominence, nonunion, malunion and range of motion.
Methodology: This prospective study was conducted in Al-Kindy Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq and included 30 patients with fracture mid shaft clavicle and were randomized digitally into two groups. First group; 15 patients fixed with anterio-superior plating and second group also 15 patients fixed with anterio-inferior plating.
Results: Anterio-superior plating had 13.3% nonunion, 13.3% surgical site numbness and 40% plate prominence while anterio-inferior plating had 26.7%, 33.3% and 20%, respectively.
Conclusion: Anterio-superior plate was associated with better result regarding union time, numbness and DASH (disabilities of arm, shoulder and hand) score.
