Knowledge and fatigue level among esophageal varices patients

Objective: To assess the knowledge and fatigue level in patients with esophageal varices.
Methodology: This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at Kafer El Sheikh Liver and Heart Institute from 1st February 2024 to October 2024. It included purposive sample was 58 patients diagnosed with esophageal varices. The knowledge questionnaire and fatigue scale were used to evaluate knowledge and patient fatigue.
Results: Out of 58 patients, 53.4% were males and 77.6% had unsatisfactory knowledge. Also, 60.3% patients experienced moderate fatigue level with a mean fatigue score of 55.9±15.9.
Conclusion: Patients with esophageal varices had unsatisfactory knowledge and majority experienced fatigue.
