Prevalence of homophobia and associated factors in pre-clinical medical students: A cross-sectional study

Introduction: Homophobia, which is defined as hatred, prejudice, discontent, fear or discrimination towards homosexuals, can cause obstacles to even the most basic human right to benefit from health services due to gender identity in social life.
Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of homophobia and the factors affecting their homophobic attitudes among students in Türkiye.
Methods: It is a cross-sectional study. Permissions were obtained from the Local Ethics Committee (22.02.2022-225717), the faculty dean, and informed consents from the participants. The minimum sample size was 249/701 (OpenEPI). It was selected by the “stratified sampling method”. Anonymously collected data by the “survey under observation method” were analysed in SPSS.
