Cristian A. Gasca, Matheus Chaves, Christopher W. Fagg, Perola de Oliveira e Magalhaes, Yris M. Fonseca-Bazzo, Damaris Silveira.

Abstract

Phytochemical study of the leaves of Eugenia dysenterica led to the identification of five pentacyclic triterpenes: urs-12-en-3β-ol (α-amyrin), olean-12-en-3β-ol (β-amyrin), neolup-12-en-3β-ol (neolupenol), gammacer-16-en-3β-ol and D-friedoolean-14-en-3β-ol (taraxerol). Their identification was based mainly on mass spectra and 13C NMR. Pentacyclic triterpenes have not been reported before in the literature as constituents of E. dysenterica.

Key words: Eugenia dysenterica, Myrtaceae, triterpenes, mass spectrometry.
