Vitamin D status among pregnant ladies attending Gynecology and Obstetrics department of Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi, Pakistan

Abstract

Objective: To assess the vitamin D status among pregnant ladies attending Gynecology and Obstetrics department of Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi.
Methodology: This descriptive cross sectional study was carried out in Gynecology and Obstetrics unit of Railway Hospital, Rawalpindi from October 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015 and included 150 volunteer pregnant women. Elisa was used to measure Vitamin 25(OH) D
levels. Data analysis was done using SPSS.
Results: Levels of vitamin D were 12.056, 13.024, 6.307 among Normal weight, over weight and obese pregnant ladies (P=NS).

Conclusion: Deficiency of vitamin D was noted in all ladies of irrespective of their physique.
