Efficacy of Kailas Jeevan Cream - A Polyherbal Ayurvedic Formulation in the Management of Mukhapaka w.s.r to Stomatitis – An Open Clinical Trial

Background: Stomatitis is the most common oral cavity ailment seen in clinical practice. It’s not life threatening but can hamper a person's eating ability, nutrition, talk, sleep and overall quality of life. It is characterized by painful inflammation of the oral mucosa along with sores inside the mouth. A poly-herbal drug-Kailas jeevan cream is in practice for various clinical conditions like burning sensation of urine, palms, soles and eyes, cracked heels and especially in pittaja vyadhis. The study is carried out to analyze the possible role of Kailas jeevan cream in the management of stomatitis.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Kailas jeevan cream in the management of stomatitis.

Materials and Methods: An open labeled clinical trial, with total 30 patients meeting the diagnostic and inclusion criteria of stomatitis between 18-60 years of age, irrespective of sex and religion participated in the study. Kailas Jeevan cream was applied locally on affected part in the oral cavity thrice in a day for a period of 7 Days, followed by post-treatment assessment on 8th day. Assessments were conducted through various subjective and objective parameters such as Pain in the affected area, Ulceration, Burning sensation, Difficulty in chewing/ingestion, Excessive salivation and photography. Blood test - CBC were assessed before and after the study.

Result: Study results shows that Kailas Jeevan cream local application produced significant improvement in relieving the symptoms of stomatitis. The subjective/objective parameters like pain over the affected area, burning sensation, inflammation and ulceration decreased significantly from day 0 visit to day 8 with p-value of 0.0001.

Conclusion: Kailas Jeevan cream application was effective and safe in the management of stomatitis. No adverse reactions were noted during the course of treatment. Assure further studies.
